She'd considered outright asking him to explain the shelter's design, but she assumed that he would either he would offer the information on his own or dodge the implied question, thus saving himself from any potential embarrassment of having to teach a random stranger about something he knows nothing about. Better to play coy to see which way he reacts. Or he may surprise her with a third possibility, which would be interesting for an entirely different set of reasons.

Unlike many of the others in the shelter, Rose doesn't seem scared. She looks curious, maybe even a bit wide-eyed. In truth, Rose had brushed up against these nuclear scares in the past, and she's thrilled to be in it once more. So long as it's just a scare, that is.
