Norton is perfectly alright with his "wife" flinging herself in front of a crazed vacuum sales knifeman. She clearly has more close combat experience than he does, and also he really doesn't want to get stabbed. As she's distracting the attacker, he tries to slink around and get some distance. But then she asks for weapons, knives from the kitchen. The smart move would be to just flee, run to a neighbour's house, call the authorities. But Nile has been a decent sort, and she did step between him and a crazed vacuum sales knifeman, and so he'd feel uncomfortably guilty if he ran away.

And so he goes to the kitchen, picks up the largest knife he can find and also a cast iron skillet and returns to the living room.

"Cooee! Mr. Vacuum! Vada over here!"
