A syringe, he should be able to come by without too much trouble. Compared to the entire lab he'd need to test the contents. A lab he had, that he left, to end up in Stepford suburbia. He won't regret that decision. This isn't his final destination.

But he can only move on so quickly. He needs bodies for that. Four others willing to travel. And what's the point of crossing the threshold between universes if he doesn't take a look around? He has to confirm this isn't the 1960's. It has to be a facade. Part of the experiment. If there truly is the possibility he could end up even further back in time, that pushes his next crossing out even further.
