"Honestly the thing it reminds me most of is my youth," he says evenly. "When I was a boy, a-a bit younger than you- than your body, I suppose, is now, a war was declared- it affected countries across the world, not just England, it caused international tension. The same thing is happening now, this- prelude of paranoia and distrust, for anyone that acts different to that."

He grimaces faintly. "For myself, for us - it means that if we fail to obey the rules of this- society-" and the word couldn't be more scornful if he tried, the same energy he gives the word cult "- then we're accused of undermining the safety of the entire community."
