"Maryland?" By the second, the anger leaks out of her voice, slowly but surely. Replaced by a kind of wavering vulnerability. There's still a sense of distrust and unease about her, though. Eyes slitted as she stares at him.
That he doesn't move closer is a good call. It relaxes her, puts her more at ease that at least he doesn't seem to be pursuing her.
She takes a few steps backwards, and makes her way back into her room. Not sure what to expect, or if she should even be listening. She does though. When she sees the knife, she grabs it, and clutches it to her chest.
She wonders if she would be able to use it. If she had to. She's been in fights before, but nothing where she had to use a weapon. If she had to stab somebody, could she do it to keep herself safe?
She doesn't know.
